I am a Year 8 student at Glen Innes School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Room 11 and my teacher is Mrs Ramkolowan.

Tessetalation
Today I had been making my own tessellation. Doing your own tessellation is really fun but you have to take your time with this. My class and I were told to do this because this is what we have been learning. I thought it would have been boring but it's fun when your doing it with a cool class like mine.

Mathpup measurement
I think this game is a really good game because it's got a lot of things like toys and pens. In this game you have to try and get the correct one and measurement. I think this will be good for the purple group.

Reading weight and mass
I have learnt how to read the weight and the mass. I think reading the weight is really easy and simple. In this game I had to find what the arrow was on and then I had to write 3.8 so that I could get 60 points. I think this game would be good for our revision on maths.
Measuring
I have learnt in this game how to calculate the mass and write the unit of mass. When I started playing I thought it would of been hard but it was quite easy because if it’s over 3kg you have to convert it into grams. Once you did that you have to plus it with the 400g or 300g. As soon as you add it up you have your answer. I think this would be a easy game for the purple group. I would like to learn algebra.

Transformation
While I was reading at this everything that I had learnt in the past had come back to me. When I got on to the next page I didn't really get it because I haven't been taught it. While I was reading I learnt how to do it and the strategy.
Perimeter by length
In this game I have been tested to try and figure out what is the km for q. While I was trying I remembered that I had to add them all up and then add a number to it so that it could make 40. When I was adding them up I got the number 30. I knew that 30+10=40 so when I placed the 10 in the box I got it right. Next I would like to learn Algebra and Geometry.

Why can't I live
Walt: solve problems in statistics.
Today I have been playing a probability game that was really fun and kind of tricky because you had to see if it was certain or probable to pull out a red or a blue block. I thought that it was hard at the end but it wasn't because I got use to it and carried on getting all of the questions right.

Probably a favourite
Walt: solve problems in statistics.
I thought that it would've been really hard but it was easy. In this game I had to count to see how many pecan clusters. Once I know how much pecan clusters I add them all up and then I push taste and then the customer taste and she/he is happy because I got it right.

Marble rolled

Walt: measure and record distances accurately.
This week I have been learning how to do a scatter graph. Doing a scatter graph was new to our learning. This was the main graph that we needed to do to get us beyond our stage and feather. I thought doing a scatter graph would've been really hard because it was my first time doing a graph like that. Once I figured out how to do it I started putting in my data and filled in all the information. Once that was all finish I clicked next and then my scatter graph was the way it was suppose to be, and it was just like what I did on my scatter graph paper.

This week for maths it was really fun because we had to play a dice game and get a partner. My partner was Devonn. Devonn and I took turns at rolling the dice, we both had fun playing. We had roll it five times for every month and then total it all up. On the dice had $7, $4, $1, $2, $10, $5 which kind of made it hard to total. thought it would of been easy but it was hard because you never know which number it would land on.

Writing fractions in lowest terms
Walt: Write fractions in the lowest terms.
I know how to write fractions in their lowest terms because I know my timetables very well. My strategy to figuring out what's a the simplest form to 5/10 I would use my five times tables to figure out the answer because 5 divide by 5 equals one, so you put one in the numerator so 5 divide by 10 equals two.then you put your answer to that goes in the denominator so all that equals to ⅕. I thought it was challenging because I tried to beat my time but I didn’t. I only beat my score and my medals. You could make it more hard if you add tricky fractions in the game that what makes me think. Next I would like to improve my speed at forming the fractions lowest forms.

Maths
Walt: reflection on my basic facts.
In stage 7 for basic facts I got 48% because I was struggling on fraction, decimals and percentages and I really didn’t know some of the maths question. Doing fraction, decimals and percentages are really challenging. They are challenging because when it shows the fraction and you have to turn it into a percentage. I thought that it will be puzzling on the other work on the stage 7 work but the only puzzling bit was the percentage and that. My next aim is to work hard on my percentage, fraction and decimals. Next time I will get them all right and I might get close to an 80% or a 90% so I will be so proud.

Reflective Symmetry
Today I was learning how to do reflective symmetry. Reflection symmetry is covered with shapes and up look at it in the mirror you could see the reflection. The hard bit was when were had to do the Maori symmetry because we couldn't get the way the shape goes right. The challenging was when we had to get the curved bit of the Koror. The easy bit is where you could use the shapes that was already on the paper or site. Next I would like to learn how to do Maori pattens.

Area
Walt: use tiles to cover the lounge floor.
Today for maths we were learning about area. We had to partner up with the person next to you. Crystal and I were partners. When we were doing it we had to use a whiteboard and pretend that it was a lounge floor and needs to be covered. Crystal and I use 150 tiles. I knew that it was 150 because I worked it out by 15 x 10=150. When I looked at everyone decoration for the lounge floor I was excited. They were very unique because some of us used different tiles. I thought that it was hard because we took a little bit long to finish since our tiles were small. Blade and Chase decoration took a little bit longer because their one was a little bit smaller.

Integrating maths and topic
Walt: make sense of our learning.
Today I did constructing pyramids because it is part of our learning and we are studying about Egypt. Constructing pyramids is really cool because it’s hard and interesting like studying about Egypt. Once you study about it and make a pyramid for yourself it’s really catchy. When we did the pyramid it reminded me when we were researching about the seven wonders of Ancient World. We are doing this for a reason because from 2500 BC time they built the pyramid without using modern machinery.
Ratio blaster
Ratio blaster is a really hard game for me because I kept on getting mixed up with 2 to 6 and 3 to 8 because I forgot that you could change it into a fraction. When I play ratio blaster again I will know what to do and how to beat the time. But I think this is a really good game for me to catch on to.

Coordinates
The first thing I did to solve this problem is to find the x axis which is the horizontal line. Also the y axis is the vertical line. So if there is a red circle you have to say that it is -5 for x axis and -3 for y axis. This is challenging but I thank Alisi for explaining it to me by saying that I have to look at the x axis and then the y axis. What I would like to learn next in coordinates is to practice more on integers.

Decomposition
Walt: Use decomposition to solve addition and subtraction.
This week I've learnt how to do decomposition. Decomposition is really interesting because I never knew that it would be so easy. Using subtraction and addition with decomposition is really fast because you get to finish really fast instead of waiting until you figure out the answer. Next I would like to learn negative numbers and positive numbers.

Pasifika patterns
Today for maths I've been on nz maths which is a really good site to go on because there are lots of things that you can do. Like go on Geometry level 2.
This task is called Pasifika Patterns and I think you might like it.
I learn that rotational and reflection symmetry is kind of hard because you have to halve it than you have to see if it matches the pattern.
