Ancient Egyptians. The written word.

Hieroglyphics

  1. Hieroglyphics is a greek word and it means sacred carving.
  2. Hieroglyphics is used for every object and it also helps them with their mathematical  problems.
  3. Hieroglyphics is represented to a fertility god and they wrote from top to bottom. They also drawn the bird in hieroglyphics facing the beginning of the story.
  4. The Egyptians used hieroglyphics more than seven hundred times.
  5. Only one person out of all the Egyptians knew how to read in hieroglyphics.

Scribes

  1. The Egyptians main tool was called a kalamos because it was made out of reed that was found near the nile river.
  2. The scribes could only write in black and red but they also was writing when they were standing inside and talking to someone but when they were kneeling it was kind of hard.
  3. The scribes worked together under the watchful eye of the chief scribe.

Papyrus

  1. The Egyptians found out how to use paper by using a triangle shaped reed and put it into the water and left it to dry for a couple of days and then they wrote on it.
  2. In Egyptian papyrus means property of the pharaoh.
  3. Ancient greek use the papyrus and translated it into a english word that is pronounced paper.
