Tessetalation

Today I had been making my own tessellation. Doing your own tessellation is really fun but you have to take your time with this. My class and I were told to do this because this is what we have been learning. I thought it would have been boring but it's fun when your doing it with a cool class like mine.

step 2 to making a tarte tartin.

Step two to making it is that you have put batter into your pan and then put soft brown sugar on to the apples. After you do that you take it into the kitchen and heat the stove up to 200. Doing this may look ugly but when you taste it omg it blows your mind. The next step will come soon.Displaying image72.pngDisplaying image95.png

Final step to making the tarte tartin

Displaying image129.png

The final step to making a the tarte tartin. This is what it would look like once you finish. Doesn't it look so nice. If you put some ice cream next to it the tarte tartin would taste so much better. If I was you I would like to make this.

Step 1 of making a tarte tartin

Today my class and I made a upside down tarte tarin. First we had to peel the apples and make sure that we had to cut the core. Also make sure that you squeeze the lemon on to the apples.

Mathpup measurement

I think this game is a really good game because it's got a lot of things like toys and pens. In this game you have to try and get the correct one and measurement. I think this will be good for the purple group.

Reading weight and mass

I have learnt how to read the weight and the mass. I think reading the weight is really easy and simple. In this game I had to find what the arrow was on and then I had to write 3.8 so that I could get 60 points. I think this game would be good for our revision on maths.

Measuring

I have learnt in this game how to calculate the mass and write the unit of mass. When I started playing I thought it would of been hard but it was quite easy because if it’s over 3kg you have to convert it into grams. Once you did that you have to plus it with the 400g or 300g. As soon as you add it up you have your answer. I think this would be a easy game for the purple group. I would like to learn algebra.

Badminton

Walt: write a poem with rhyme.

The taste of winning

Swipe to the left, Swipe to the right
make sure you hit it or that’s not right,
Serve from the back and serve to the
front but make sure they crotch like a
plankton that’s nearly done

It’s coming like a bullet that
just shot me but lucky I hit it
or it would had been singleton,
While I was waiting for the serve
to come I felt a slight smack into
my arms it was the shuttle that had
been served

I’m getting anxious because I’m losing,
I can’t wait until I beat him, and when I do
he will be certain that I had won and
he had lost. The band
Of glory will be finally mine

Transformation

image: a graph with 4 triangles plotted

While I was reading at this everything that I had learnt in the past had come back to me. When I got on to the next page I didn't really get it because I haven't been taught it. While I was reading I learnt how to do it and the strategy.

Perimeter by length

In this game I have been tested to try and figure out what is the km for q. While I was trying I remembered that I had to add them all up and then add a number to it so that it could make 40. When I was adding them up I got the number 30. I knew that 30+10=40 so when I placed the 10 in the box I got it right. Next I would like to learn Algebra and Geometry.

Marae visit - Video

Tony Ryall saying ahh

Tony Ryall was demonstrating how to take a swab of your throat.

Visit to the marae

Everyone was having a lovely conversation. While everyone had a conversation Alisi was posing for the camera.

A mothers worst nightmare

Walt: write a narrative.

Everyone is evacuating their homes because a wildfire is out of control and it’s heading their way.

While everyone was evacuating a house caught on fire. Everyone stood and stared. ‘’HELP HELP’’ someone said from inside of the house. It was a single mother with her 2 month year old baby. The mother was so scared that she started filling up the pots and trying to put out the fire herself but it was no use. The wildfire had taken over half of her house. I’m never going to get out of here.

While she was holding the baby she was looking for an exit so that she could get out. When she was running down the hallway she saw a door that wasn't blocked so she started running fast like the wind but she didn’t make it. The burning wood fell in front of them.

The mother was going to faint because of the dark cloud of smoke was surrounding them. Suddenly the baby started crying. She was so scared because she thought that they were going to die in a fire. She said to her baby that she wants to see you grow up. Wee Ooo Wee Ooo Wee Ooo, it was the firefighters.

The firefighters were finally their they started putting out the fire. One of the firefighters smashed the door down and ran in with one of his friends to help find her and her baby. With her very last breath she shouted help and then they found her and her baby. Her and her baby made it out alive. Everyone even her parents were so happy to see their little girl alive.

She and her baby made it to the end and they also got out safe.

This story is about a mother and her child trapped in their own home and couldn't get out until the firefighters came and saved her and her child.

Stem and leaf graph

While I was trying to figure out how to do a back to back stem and leaf plot/graph. While I waited until something to pop into my head I remembered that I could use my previous homework. When I got it out I straight away remembered how to do it. So when I started on the girls side of the back to back stem and leaf graph but not the boys side. I would like to learn algebra.

Crystal giving their food a ten out of ten

Crystal loved it at sports camp that she didn't want to leave there. She loved being around her friends and other schools. Crystal also gave their food a ten out of ten.

Netball cheer

Yes we won the netball. They were happy and proud so they did a cheer for them self and the team they went up against.

Sports camp

On a cold day Alisi went for a swim. She was really really freezing but she was also happy because she got to swim with her friends.

Why can't I live

Walt: solve problems in statistics.

Today I have been playing a probability game that was really fun and kind of tricky because you had to see if it was certain or probable to pull out a red or a blue block. I thought that it was hard at the end but it wasn't because I got use to it and carried on getting all of the questions right.

Probably a favourite

Walt: solve problems in statistics.

I thought that it would've been really hard but it was easy. In this game I had to count to see how many pecan clusters. Once I know how much pecan clusters I add them all up and then I push taste and then the customer taste and she/he is happy because I got it right.

Matariki

Walt: explain the Maori contribution to time.

Intro:
In the north-eastern horizon Matariki is bear to come. Matariki could come around the last few days in May on the tail of the milky way or in the early June. We celebrate matariki so that we could come together with our family and have a lovely time. Also we could bond.

Celebration:
Every year the Maori and all the other people that wants to contribute come together and tell stories and they do kapa haka. When the Maori do kapa haka everyone joins in and then they all start singing. Lots of tribes celebrate at different times because some celebrate when the new moon rose. Other tribes celebrate when they see matariki in the north-eastern horizon. The celebration will last until the next full moon rose.

Traditional customs:
Some traditions come together and they sing songs or the camp outside. The maori said that every year the stars go brighter and the season go warm. They will all start the festival before the next new moon. They all have a feed for lunch or they could have some hungi. They make the hungi the same.

Beliefs:
The maori once belief that the seven sister were evil and that they will never glow bright. They thought that the seven sister were smashed into lots of little stars.

Contribution to time:
The Maori’s could tell when the brightest star is in the sky. The Maori every year looked up in the sky around 4:00 to 5:00 clock because that’s when it will appear.

Impetigo

Walt: study skin infections.

Impetigo is one of the skin infections. Impetigo is caused by one or two bacteria staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus pyogenes. Impetigo could also cause strep throat. Also impetigo will show up on your mouth, legs, arms and everywhere else. Children that are at a young age could catch it if they have been cut, scratched or if they have grazed their knee. It wouldn't be nice if one of the children get it and come to school because the person that has it could pass it on to their friends and family that are young. That’s why we always advise you to wash your hands every time you finish playing. You could identify impetigo because it is yellow and pusy.

Mum send me more chocolate

The weather in east Timor is 47 degrees Celsius which is really hot. The green patrol soilorie are the soilories that hide in the bush with their face covered with green and brown camouflage on their face which is to see if any of their amy are around in their territory. The blue patrol soilories have fun because that get to go into the village and introduce themselves. They also play soccer, volleyball and other games. Sports in Timor sounds really sore to your feet because I’m really use to soft grounds like grass. I think the reason the soldiers asked for chocolate is because the kids and children there never tasted chocolate before.

Marble rolled

Walt: measure and record distances accurately.

This week I have been learning how to do a scatter graph. Doing a scatter graph was new to our learning. This was the main graph that we needed to do to get us beyond our stage and feather. I thought doing a scatter graph would've been really hard because it was my first time doing a graph like that. Once I figured out how to do it I started putting in my data and filled in all the information. Once that was all finish I clicked next and then my scatter graph was the way it was suppose to be, and it was just like what I did on my scatter graph paper.

Food Tech

Walt: make food around the world

I really enjoyed food technology because every Monday we make different cultural food. We had to make chop suey because we were heading to Tonga. I also enjoyed making chop suey because you had to mix lots of other recipes. I didn’t like making Pesupo because it tasted funny to me that's why I don’t like it. Pesupo is kind of tricky to make also because you have to combined staff really quick. At home I tried making Easter rich chocolate tarts because I told my family that it tasted so nice and that they had to try it out. When they tasted the rich chocolate tartes they wanted me to make more. Next time I would love to make an Afghanistan culture food that they make for a celebration or someone's birthday.

Milk in school

Walt: share our thoughts on ‘’milk in schools’’.

I think that all schools need milk because if we get a milo and it’s really hot you could tip a little bit in and it would be just right for you. Also you could use it for making a filling nice and cold after coming from the dentist.

I think they should because some parents don’t work and they pay the bills for your house and they won’t have enough money left. The government is the one that funes all the schools so it should be able to pay for the milk to.

It could help them by not getting burned when they drink it. It could also help them by having a warm milk and it could help our bones and muscles get stronger.

Character study

In the story that I was reading Alan is a hard working boy and he loves his cat Daisy. Alan  has a brother Ben who is fourteen and he is ten. He also has two littlies Beth and Fin. Every day before Alan goes sleep Daisy sleeps at the end of Alan bed and she always watched him do his homework. Alan has some odd jobs. Every week Alan get twenty dollars. He will spend some and save some to get a radio-controlled plane.

Alan is a hard worker because he works every week to try and earn some money for what he really wants. He is also a focussed person. If Alan was told to go and do something or get something he would go and get. He is also carrying because when Daisy got hit by the car her leg was badly injured and she was losing a lot of blood. He was so scared because he thought that Daisy would of died so he quickly rushed her to the vets. Mrs Jameson said that Daisy was in a really bad shape and then Alan said is Daisy going to be okay.

Walt: Exploring probability with the help of a simulation.

This week for maths it was really fun because we had to play a dice game and get a partner. My partner was Devonn. Devonn and I took turns at rolling the dice, we both had fun playing. We had roll it five times for every month and then total it all up. On the dice had $7, $4, $1, $2, $10, $5 which kind of made it hard to total. thought it would of been easy but it was hard because you never know which number it would land on.

Cross country rap/poem

Walt: write a rap/poem

As i’m running down the hill I could
feel myself wanting to sprint i’m nearly there
it’s not so far but next to me is my
friend  Racer she is really fast,

I can beat her and come 2nd in the cross
country but suddenly I could feel my
legs getting really heavy like i’m stuck
in the sand at the beach,

Sweat rolling down my face like it’s
going to rain, just eleven big steps
and i’m nearly there just five more steps and
i’m at the finish line,

I came 2nd i’m really happy I can’t believe it,
After I finish the race I could feel myself dehydrated
and needed water in my systems, I grabbed a
water bottle and wanted more so I grabbed a second
and still wanted more but I had to stop or I will
explode, It was the end of cross country I was so
happy that I don’t need to do any more running,

My collage

At Tamaki college I had to do a collage with heaps of my pictures that I had sketched in photo shop. I thought that it was really hard because you had to go through a really long process of making and putting your picture that your going to sketch on and put it as your background. It was really fun and cool because we had a lot of fun with the teacher over there. She was a fun teacher to do sketching with.

Sad day for everyone

On 28 August Cantik died, she had been suffering from cancer and arthritis. It was so sad for everyone because she had been given euthanasia so that she doesn't die on her own in a lot of pain.

A long time ago in 1994 Wellington Zoo received a Sumatran tiger from Burger's Zoo in the Netherlands. Her name was Cantik. Cantik lived for more than 20 years. People believed that Sumatran tigers only live in the wild until they reached the age 10. But Cantik lived until she was 21 years old.

If the Wellington Zoo had two females they would send one of the females to another zoo that has a male Sumatran tiger so that they could breed. When Sumatran tigers breed they don’t really become extinct because the more cubs they have, the more Sumatrans tigers they get. They are also the smallest five subspecies. The tigers are really amazing at swimming but on land they chase their prey into the water where they can’t get away and are hopeless. There are only three to four hundred Sumatran tigers left in the wild.

I think that Cantik should receive euthanasia because they die peacefully. They could announce that one of Cantik children are their in her place and that it’s really good because she’s not all gone her daughter or son has a little bit of her in him/her. I will miss her so much but she is in a better place where she don’t need to go threw all that pain and dieing on her own.

I think that Cantik would live in peace and she will be really happy because she didn’t really want to go threw all that to die on her own.

Writing fractions in lowest terms

Walt: Write fractions in the lowest terms.

I know how to write fractions in their lowest terms because I know my timetables very well. My strategy to figuring out what's a the simplest form to 5/10 I would use my five times tables to figure out the answer because 5 divide by 5 equals one, so you put one in the numerator so 5 divide by 10 equals two.then you put your answer to that goes in the denominator so all that equals to ⅕. I thought it was challenging because I tried to beat my time but I didn’t. I only beat my score and my medals. You could make it more hard if you add tricky fractions in the game that what makes me think. Next I would like to improve my speed at forming the fractions lowest forms.

My inspirational person

Walt: use our research to write an essay on an inspiring person.

My inspirational person is Edmund Hillary. Edmund Hillary inspires me because he understands people and they understand him but he never showed off when  he became a celebrity.

I admired him because he is really modest. He  used his modest abilities but combined it with his determination to climb Mount Everest but he never wanted to change his mind. When he made it to the top he didn’t really brag about it but he was really proud that he never changed his mind. I am inspired by his determination.

Edmund Hillary also understands people. He has been helping the people since 1961 to make the first Sherpa school. The Himalayans Trust was born then. If it wasn't for Edmund Hillary the trust and the school would had never been built in the Khumjung Village. That is the reason the people in the Khumjung Village trust Edmund Hillary.

He also brought out the best in  his family and friends. Sir Edmund Hillary was one of the best “stay focused persons.” He never like to be off track. If he wanted to do something he won't stop and do something else he would keep going until that is done and then move on.

I picked Sir Edmund Hillary because he is like me I'm modest. But if I am inspired by something I am determined for that thing makes me want to get it. Also I understand people and they understand me.

Maths

Walt: reflection on my basic facts.

In stage 7 for basic facts I got 48% because I was struggling on fraction, decimals and percentages and I really didn’t know some of the maths question. Doing fraction, decimals and percentages are really challenging. They are challenging because when it shows the fraction and you have to turn it into a percentage. I thought that it will be puzzling on the other work on the stage 7 work but the only puzzling bit was the percentage and that. My next aim is to work hard on my percentage, fraction and decimals. Next time I will get them all right and I might get close to an 80% or a 90% so I will be so proud.

Basketball

Walt: write rap/poem

Dribble, Dribble down the court
here I go to get a score,
Make sure you don’t get hit
just make sure you get that swish,
bouncing and bouncing till you
there get the three pointer and we’re
nearly there, protect the ball don’t
let go you're going to give the ball
to the other team get the ball, and
shoot, Slam dunk the ball goes through
everyone’s happy run, run get
another one,

Jump stop don’t stop keep going it’s
34-4 were nearly there and that’s
the score, game times going down
it’s on 10 seconds, I have to get this in to
win if I don’t get it, it’s game over and I'm let down
I could do it nothing to it so shoot,
I get it in another three pointer the crowd
goes wild like the animals are at the zoo,

Practice time everyone comes
dribble through the legs it goes
and out the other side we go,
come on guys we can do it try your
best and do it, we could move to the
grove and we could do anything, so
move, move move

It’s all over we all go home
we won we won it’s the greatest day
ever cause we won we
did our bounces and our pass
it’s all better cause
we did it and we own it,
